Mladá teenerga Mitchie chce ísť na leto do rockového tábora no kvôli nedostatku peniazov to nie je možné. No neskôr sa dozvie, že jej mama dostala v rock tábore miesto kuchárky a že môže ísť pod tou podmienkou, že svojej mame bude pomáhať v kuchyni. Do rock tábora dojde aj popová hviezda Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), ktorému sa Mitchin hlas veľmi páčil, no páčila sa mu aj ako dievča. No musela čeliť namyslenej babe, ktorá chce získať Shana. Mitchie klamala o svojom pôvode a keď sa o tom Shane dozvedel, veľmi sa v nej sklamal. Obvinili ju z krádeže náramku a tak jej aj jej kamarátke zakázali spievať na záverečnom final jame. No ona sa vynašla a spievala až po skončení final jamu. Potom sa zo Shanom udobrili a mala zážitok na celý život.
